HOW TO HIDE FILES AND FOLDERS IN WINDOW XP

For one reasons or another, we may want to hide a files and folders in our computers so that it will not be visible to anybody. There are a number of software available in the market to help you achieve this. However, it is also possible to achieve this even if you do not have the money to spend on these software. Below is a little tip on how you can hide a file or folder in window xp:

Firstly, you need to ensure that "Do not show hidden files and folders" is enabled in your window explore
r settings (it is normally enabled by default, but it helps to confirm). To ensure that "do not show hidden files and folders" is enabled, click on My Computer on your desktop, and click on Tools on the menu. Then click on folder option on the drop down menu.

On the folder option dialogue box, click on the view menu, and scroll down to ensure that the "do not show hidden files and folder is checked" is checked. If it is not checked, check it.

Now, go to the folder you want to hide, right click on it and then click properties. On the properties dialogue box, check hidden, click Apply and then ok. This will hide the folder.

NOTE:

Most people that are good with a computer can easily access files hidden like this by simply using the same process to show all hidden files and folder. It is therefore advisable to first put files you want to hide in locations where somebody is unlikely to look for it before hiding the folder. A good suggestion is C:\program files .
